Belgrade is located on State Route 27, approximately 12 miles northwest of Augusta. A suburban and resort town, Belgrade encompasses portions of Great Pond, Long Pond, Messalonskee Lake, and Salmon Lake within its 43 square mile extent. Belgrade Lakes Village is the commercial center of the community, which is growing at nearly 1.5 percent per year. The numbers of seasonal and year-round housing units are about equal.
