The Town of Unity is a regional service center for northern Waldo County. It has a mid-sized commercial downtown area, which includes Unity College and the station for the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad. U.S. Route 202 also runs through the commercial area. Substantial numbers of seasonal residences line Unity Pond, located just north of the town center. With population growth about 2 percent per year, Unity covers 40 square miles.
